CAMPS 2019

Pony Club camps are one of those life experiences that all children who love ponies will never forget. Members go to Pony Club Camp to learn more about horsemanship, make friends and have a great time!  They are the highlight of our year.

We organise camps for both junior and senior members of the Club. These camps, which take place in the summer holidays, could not take place without the hard work and dedication of parents and volunteers.

Junior Camp 2019: Monday July 29th - Thursday August 1st (Upper House Farm)

Junior Camp will be held at Upper House Farm, Harpsden from Monday 29th July to Thursday 1st August. This is a non-residential camp for members under 11 years who will arrive with their ponies to start riding at 10am each day, going home at the end of the day after tea.

Mornings start at 10am with a tack check where we make sure all campers and ponies are turned out safely and correctly.  This will be followed by an hour of instruction and a stable management session. Then everyone has a break for lunch.  After lunch there may be a chance to watch an expert at work such as a farrier. In the afternoon the children ride again and this may include mounted games, treasure hunt or a lead rein hack for our much younger members around the farm. Some of the more senior members will be on hand to help the instructors with their groups each day. Parents booking a lead rein member into this camp will also be asked to be on hand or find someone to help with the leading during the camp.

We provide lunch & tea each day in our club marquee. The instructors, camp helpers and campers all eat together.

There will be competitions at the end of the week with a BBQ!   Members will be placed into ‘Sections’ (teams) for activities and games.  This is a great camp designed to encourage, give confidence, and prepare for senior camp and really progress members’ riding and knowledge.

To Book your Place at Camp

Applications for junior camp will be secured on a first come, first served basis and on acceptance of a deposit which is to be paid by 30th April of each year. Until your deposit is received, your place cannot be guaranteed and places will be limited so it is advisable to book early.  Please also note that you must have attended three rallies to qualify for camp.   Camp the previous year counts as one rally.

Payment is made via the new online booking page of the website. The balance of payment can then be made later in 2 stage payments at the end of May and June.
