Woodland Hunt Members Out and About

We love to hear about Woodland's sucesses, whether competing for the Club or not, so if you have some news drop us a

The Novice Eventing team of Charlotte Bagshawe, Bunty Matheson, Cliona Muir and Ellie Townend beat off all the other Novice Teams in Area 12 to come an incredible 1st, with every team member getting placed in their sections!

The intermediate eventing team of Alexandra Dunn, Rowena Orr, Maddie Dudley and Elspeth Lund also did incredibly well coming second overall at the Areas.  Maddie Dudley won her section, Alexandra Dunn came  second in her section and Rowena Orr came 4th in her section, all finishing on double clears.

Both teams have qualified for the National Championships in Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire - Well done girls!

1st and 2nd placings for Novice and Intermediate Eventing Area Teams!
Novice Team win Area SJ !

A huge well done to this years Area Novice Showjumping Team: Charlotte Bagshawe, Nell Summerley, Ellie Townend and Bunty Matheson who, out of 27 teams were the only ones to post a zero score over the first two rounds making them the outright WINNERS. Individually, Nell finished 2nd, Ellie 4th and Charlotte 10th with a 2nd in the Tack and Turnout competition. Cliona Muir and Grace Mee jumped really well as individuals. The intermediate team of Rowena Orr, Alexandra Dunn and Maddy Grace Dudley were down to three but still in equal 3rd place after the first round, after which things didn't quite go to plan. However, Maddy posted a double clear and made it to round 3 jump off, and after a small sat nav malfunction finished a very exciting and qualifying 4th. So off to the 2015 Pony Club Championships we go! Well done all, a very long but happy day with the dressage and eventing qualifiers next on the agenda....

Royal Windsor Horse Show Success!

We are delighted to announce that member Maddy Dudley was not only selected to compete for Area 12 at RWHS but finished RUNNER UP in a highly competitive SJ competition over an Area Open level course. Maddie was drawn 10th to go in a big class, and was the first competitor to cut some amazing turns. She led right the way through until the third from last who just pipped her by a small margin. Fantastic to see so many members there supporting - the biggest cheer of the day was for WOODLAND HUNT!! Well done, Maddy and Maggie - we are very proud.

Chiltern and Thames Rider Winter SJ Champs

Well done to member Charlotte Bagshawe and her pony Jay (Crumlin Cracker)  who qualified and competed at the Chiltern and Thames Rider Showjumping Championships at Patchetts at the beginning of March - not only did she WIN the 95cm Pony Warm Up class, she was also placed in the Championship class AND the Puissance (where her final round went to 120cm with a 160cm spread!)

Team Successes at ODE!

Woodland fielded 2 teams for the Vale of Aylesbury Hunt PC, ODE held at Rosehill on 20 September and both teams came back in the ribbons!

In Class 1, the team consisting of Harriet Holland, Scarlett Jones and Ellie Townend, secured first place, with all members gaining individual placings - Harriet 1st (not bad for her first ever ODE!!), Scarlett 4th and Ellie 7th.

In Class 2, our team of Jessie Borrough-Haq, Ella Bollon,  Cliona Muir and Grace Mee, came 3rd with Jessie and Grace getting placed 3rd and 7th individually.

Whilst we didn't have a team in Class 3, Maddie Dudley secured 4th place and Rebecca Lambton-Heys was awarded the Horsemanship Award

Woodland's senior Dressage team stole the show at the Areas -  winning the Intermediate Dressage competition. Incredibly all the team placed;  Emily Estcourt 1st, Jessie Kirby 3rd, Suzannah Boddie 6th and Becky Lambton-Heyes 7th.  The team went onto the National Championships in August where they did amazingly well - coming 9th overall with individual placings for Suzannah and Jessie who were both 7th and Emily 8th.

At the Show Jumping Areas, Suzannah Boddie came 2nd, qualifying as an individual for the National Championships where she came a fantastic 8th.

At the Eventing Areas, Alexandra Dunn came 4th individually, 1 of only 14 out of 55 competitors to go double clear.  Fantastic results girls!

Intermediate Area & National Championship Successes!

Dengie Champs - Well done Maddy & Jessie!

Maddy Dudley and her pony Maggie May proved that when it comes to show jumping, they are up there with the best. They came an incredible 3rd in the Dengie Winter League Championships on the 12 April, beating over 80 finalists from across the UK. Click here to view her stunning jump-off.

Jessie Kirby, one of the youngest competitors at the show, also did very well in the dressage on her pony Mojo's Magic, coming 5th in the Dressage to Music category and 13th in her arena in the Novice Dressage class.

Very well done to both girls and also to Charlotte Bagshawe, who whilst didn't get placed, did well to make it the Championships in the first place.

Like London Buses - we wait for ages then 3 Dengie finalists come along!!

What a result for Woodland! The Area 12 Dengie Finals, held at Addington on the 9 March, saw all three of our Qualifiers make it through to the National Finals in Warwickshire on the 12 & 13 April!

Jessie Kirby - our pint-sized Dressage Diva(!), came 2nd in the Novice Dressage, Maddie Dudley jumped a stunning jump-off to secure 1st place in the 95cm Show Jumping in which Charlotte Bagshawe also managed an impressive 4th place.

There were also a number of other Woodland sucesses on the day - Emily Bowen came 5th in the 55cm Show Jumping class and 7th in the 65cm class. Jessie Borrough-Haq picked up 5th place in the 75cm class against some stiff competition, the Woodland 85cm Show Jumping team, comprising of Ella Bollon, Jessie Burrough-Haq, Maddie Dudley and Charlotte Bagshawe, came a very respectable 2nd (with Maddie and Charlotte also picking up individual placings).

Well done girls - Woodland (and your Mums!) are extremely proud of you!! Thank you Posy for your fantastic suport and encouragement on the day!

Anaïs makes a fabulous start to the Eventing Season!

Woodlanders exercise their brains instead of their ponies!!

Show Jumping success for Woodland!

Woodland had a great day at the BCA on the 23 February 2104, with all of our competitors getting placed!

Well done to Emily Bowen who picked up 7th place in the 50cm class on her very first outing with her new pony!

Ella Bollon and Jessie Borrough-Haq came an impressive 1st and 2nd in the 70cm class.

Charlotte Bagshawe came 1st in the 80cm and went on to secure 3rd (and so qualify) in the 90 cm Dengie Qualifier and finally Elspeth Lund picked up 8th in the Intermediate class! Well done to all!

Dengie Dressage Qualifiers

Well done to Rebecca Lambton-Heys and Jessie Kirby who came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Qualifying Novce Dressage Class at the BCA in November and will now be competing in the Area 12 regional competition in March. Good luck Jess and Becky!

Woodland Sweeps up at Addington!

Woodland Hunt entered a team (Charlotte Bagshawe, Ella Bollon, Jessie Borrough-Haq and Maddie Dudley) to compete in the 80cm Show Jumping Class at Addington Manor on the 30 October 2013. Under the watchful eye of Posy Knapp, the team secured 1st place against 18 other teams. Maddy Dudley also came 2nd individually in the class and topped that by winning the 90cm SJ Dengie Qualifier! Jessie also had a fantastic dressage success on the day, getting placed 1st in the Intro 2007 test. What a fab day for Woodland!

Affliated success for Maddy and Maggie!

Maddy Dudley and her awesome pony Maggie have recently become BSJA affliated and, at their very first outing, came 2nd in Junior Novice; qualifying for the Blue Chip Championships 2014!! BSJA Juniors had better watch out for the "new kids on the block"!

A new high for Charlotte...

Charlotte Bagshawe was delighted to win her first 3 foot Show Jumping class on her fab new pony, Jay, at the BCA's annual "Children in Need"  competition on the 3 November. This follows recent successes at other local competitions. What a great new team they make!

First B+ Test success!

Congratulations to Emily Estcourt who recently passed her B+ Test.  Emily is one of the first candidates to take this test in Area 12 and she described the test as "challenging".  She had to ride two horses in a double bridle, on the flat in a snaffle and take them show jumping and cross country and then describe improvement plans for each horse in each discipline.  Having passed her Lunge test earlier in the year, Emily now hopes to work towards her A Riding (A)  and A Horsemastership (AH) tests, the highest level of test within the Pony Club

Becky and Teri pass first time!

Well done Rebecca Lambton-Heys and Teri Stevens who have each passed both sections of the B Test at their first attempt.  The B Test is now usually run as two separate exams - one for Horse and Pony Care and the other for Riding. For the riding, candidates have to ride their own and at least one other horse on the flat.  They then take their own horse around a course of show jumps and cross country jumps.  Passing the full B Test entitles candidates to move onto the Lunge then A tests within the Pony Club or allows them direct entry to BHS Stage III.  They can also work towards their Coaching Certificate - which both girls plan to do.
